In the 2022/23 pre-season opener, Erik ten Hag, Manchester United manager, got off to a great start as Man United beat Liverpool with 4-0 at the opening of the summer tour of Thailand and Australia.
Ten Hag’s team is more experienced than Jürgen Klopp. Man United took the lead with 3-0 after only half an hour due to goals from Jadon Sancho, Fred and Anthony Martial.
Liverpool started with a mixture of first-teamers and youngsters, brightly in front of 50,248 fans at the Rajamangla National Stadium and David De Gea was twice called into early action, first to block Isaac Mabaya’s cross and then to save at full stretch from Luis Diaz.

However, 12 minutes later, United were ahead when Mabaya failed to clear Bruno Fernandes’ cross and Sancho whipped in a first-time finish with his right foot.
Liverpool hit the post twice quickly through Fabio Carvalho and Diaz, but at the end of the first half was dominated by United.
On the 30 minutes, Fred made it 2-0 with a wonderful clipped finish. He sailed over Alisson before Martial and robbed Rhys Williams on the sideline to race towards Alisson. It was his first score for United since October.
Klopp threw on his big hitters, until the final 30 minutes, including Virgil van Dijk, Thiago, Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez. Although Nunez forced De Gea’s replacement, Tom Heaton made a good save. Then United scored again on 77 minutes.
” I’m satisfied today.” Eric Ten Hag told MUTV. It was a team with a great spirit and we know we are just getting started.
